Scheduled Development

• Signalization Project at 13th Street and State to facilitate cars exiting the Metra parking lot.


• The White Oak Library District was succesful on the recent referendum to, in part, expand their Downtown Lockport library campus.

Improvements to the Lockport facility will include:
 
1. Addition of an elevator, making the 2nd floor handicap accessible
 
2. Installation of ADA compliant restrooms on each floor of the building
 
3. Addition of space on the 2nd floor, extending it out to cover the current 1 story western end of the building
 
4. Completely rearranging the floor plan of the library to better reflect how people use a modern library, thus separating quiet study areas from noisier program and child friendly spaces.
 
5. Removal of "centralized services" from the Lockport facility to maximize square footage used for public services.  The folks moving out of Lockport will include administration, the business office, District records, and the Technical Services Department (book ordering/cataloging/processing).
 
6. Updated mechanical systems, improved lighting, more electrical, plumbing that meets modern building codes
 
7. A new staircase that people won't be afraid to use and that meets modern building codes.
