Many projects in Downtown Lockport have recently come to fruition. A few of them are listed here.

Metra Parking Expansion

The City of Lockport recently expanding the parking lot for commuters who use the Metra. The Station is located on 13th Street and State. The expanded lot allows for an extra 80 vehicles.

Land Remittance

Just north of 2nd Street Chevron Corporation has spent millions of dollars remitting the lands that the old Texaco refinery occupied.

When Chevron bought Texaco in the 80's they inherited the rundown refinery in Lockport. After sitting abandoned for a number of years, the new landlord began filtering the topsoil and creating CAMUs for contaminated soils.

Today, most of the land has been fully remitted to M2 Industrial standards.
